Meet Megan

I’m Megan, a blessed wife, stay-at-home mom, and homemaker — and above all, a new creation in Christ.  I live in a Little Yellow House in a historic Connecticut village with my dreamy hubby (affectionately known as Mister) and our precious boy (we’ll call him Little Man).

In July 2009 I traded my pencil skirts for blue jeans, my stilettos for Crocs.

I began my stay-at-home mom journey with the highest of ideals, and no idea what I was getting myself into.

I spent my pregnancy reading every parenting book I could get my hands on, but nothing could prepare me for that day.

That day when my mom flew back home, my husband finally went back to work, and I was left all alone with our tiny three-week old son (who was about to begin a long bout of colic).

I looked around me, and everything that had once been familiar looked different.  My clothes were covered in spit-up stains.  Unfolded laundry was piled high on my dresser.  Cat hair and who-knows-what-else covered the rug.  And I thought, I don’t know who I am anymore, and I don’t know how I’m going to do this.

One thing got me through those chaotic first months of stay-at-home motherhood.

“He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.”
(Isaiah 40:11)

Jesus gently lead me through the sleepless nights and seemingly endless bouts of crying, and when I was too tired to keep going, He carried me close to His heart.

And that, dear reader, is why I started this blog.  If you, like me, are struggling with the transition from the office to the home, it’s my prayer that you’ll leave with a little more hope in your heart and a renewed sense of purpose in your high calling as a wife and mother.

I’m no expert, but God is teaching me as I go along.  And my heart’s desire is to share what I’ve learned with other new mamas.

We’ll tackle questions like:

  • I know we can’t eat fast food forever, but how can I get dinner on the table with a fussy infant in my arms?
  • How can we survive on just one income?
  • And the really important questions, like … How can I find time to transform myself from a sleep-deprived zombie to a semi-presentable human being when I can’t even find the time to shower?

I’m delighted that you stopped by my little corner of the blogosphere and hope you find it helpful.

God bless,
Megan
